The TRNC’s 2026 budget allocates 600 million liras for the construction of a new stadium
The Government of the TRNC has allocated 600 million Turkish liras in the 2026 budget for the first stage of constructing a new modern stadium with a capacity of 12,000 spectators. The project, the launch of which was previously announced by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, is expected to start as early as this year.
According to the budget approved by parliament, the funds are planned to start being used from the end of February, after which tender procedures will be launched on an urgent basis. This is expected to make it possible to move swiftly to the practical implementation of the project.
In addition to the stadium, the authorities are planning the construction of a multifunctional indoor sports hall. According to available information, the foundations of the stadium and the hall will most likely be laid simultaneously, as part of a single construction phase.
The new sports complex is regarded as one of the key infrastructure projects aimed at developing sports, hosting major competitions, and modernising the country’s sports infrastructure.
