Almost 2 tons of dangerous products seized in Famagusta

A large shipment of food products, deemed unfit for consumption, was confiscated in Famagusta during a joint inspection by local authorities and relevant services. This concerns approximately 1,800 kilograms of spices, nuts, and dried fruits.
The inspection was carried out by officials from the Ministry of Agriculture in conjunction with the Famagusta municipal police. A warehouse belonging to one of the enterprises operating in the city was placed under scrutiny. During the inspection, violations of food safety and hygiene standards were identified.
Following the check, all suspicious products were seized. The owner of the enterprise was issued notices requiring the rectification of the identified deficiencies and for the operations to be brought into compliance with established standards.
The Ministry of Agriculture emphasized that such inspections aim to protect consumer health and ensure the quality of products entering the market. The department assured that controls will continue on a regular basis in cooperation with other competent authorities.
Experts note that such measures are particularly important ahead of the summer season, when the demand for food increases, along with the risks of improper storage and sale conditions.
