The provision of angiography services has officially begun at the Famagusta State Hospital — the first procedure was successfully performed here, marking a significant step in the development of regional cardiac care.

Health Minister Hakan Dinçyürek, commenting on the launch of the new center, noted that it will be of key importance, especially in emergency cardiovascular cases. According to him, timely intervention in such conditions is critical, and now residents of the region will be able to receive necessary help without being referred to Nicosia.

"This center is a very important step in preserving the lives of our people," the minister stated, emphasizing that the facility will be used not only for emergency cases but also for routine diagnostics, which will also reduce the load on the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia.

Dinçyürek reported that an operating room for future cardiothoracic surgeries has already been prepared at the hospital, medical teams have been formed, and work continues to expand the institution's capabilities. It is planned to start cardiothoracic operations here in the near future.

The first angiography was performed by cardiologist Alptekin Özkoç, who called the event a "historic day for the region" and emphasized that the project had been in the preparation stage for a long time.

Hospital Chief Physician Mustafa Kalfaoğlu noted that with the launch of the new department, the institution has moved closer to the level of a multidisciplinary tertiary care center. He also stated that in recent years, the medical staff has nearly doubled, and the number of specializations has significantly expanded, allowing for a reduction in patient referrals to other hospitals.

The launch of the angiography service is seen as one of the key stages in modernizing the regional healthcare system and increasing the accessibility of specialized medical care.
