Water Bills Surge in Northern Cyprus, but Green Peas Get Cheaper
The TRNC Statistical Institute has reported that inflation in February stood at 2.16%, with prices rising 4.21% compared to January. The annual inflation rate in Northern Cyprus has now reached 47.10%.
According to the General Consumer Price Index, the largest price increase was recorded in the Education category, which rose by 6.22%. Prices for various goods and services increased by 4.17%, healthcare by 3.50%, and housing by 3.44%. Meanwhile, the clothing and footwear category saw a 2.17% decline.
Biggest Price Increases in February:
- Newspapers – +50.00%
- Prepaid mobile tariffs – +40.55%
- Water bills – +39.77%
Items That Got Cheaper:
- Green peas – -28.98%
- Red cabbage – -27.95%
- Lettuce – -26.84%
