Medical Waste Dump Cleared in Gaziveren
The Environmental Protection Agency has removed a pile of boxes containing medical supplies and medications in the Gaziveren area.
The report of the unauthorized dump was initially shared on social media. After photos of the waste were posted online, officials from the Lefke Environmental Protection Department visited the coastal area of Gaziveren, where they discovered bottles and boxes of medications.
After inspecting the site, specialists contacted the relevant company believed to be responsible for the medical supplies and requested the removal of the waste.
Although the company denied creating the pollution, they agreed to help with the collection of the pharmaceutical waste and sent personnel to clean up the area.
Citizens are also encouraged to report unauthorized dumps and environmental violations through the ALO 123 hotline.
