Road closures in Güzelyurt over the weekend due to cycling races, duathlon, and rally
According to the police press office, in Güzelyurt on Saturday, 6 September, and Sunday, 7 September, several road sections will be temporarily closed due to the 23rd Dr. Fazıl Küçük Sports Games, including a duathlon, cycling races, as well as rally and drift shows.
On Saturday, from 16:00 to 19:30, the Cyprus Turkish Triathlon Federation will hold a duathlon (run–bike–run) along the routes from the Dr. Fazıl Küçük Sports Complex through the Terminal roundabout and Ecevit Street via city roads; the cycling race will take place on Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard, Orange Mall roundabout, Mania Boulevard, and the Güzelyurt–Lefkoşa road section between the Mevlevi roundabout. From 18:30 to 20:30, the Cyprus Turkish Cycling Federation will organize a separate race along Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard, Terminal roundabout, Kutlu Adalı Boulevard, İrfan Nadir Boulevard, and the Bostancı traffic lights intersection up to the Orange Mall roundabout. Police escorts will accompany the athletes; certain intersections and roundabouts will be temporarily closed.
On Sunday, 7 September, from 09:00 to 21:00, the Touring and Automobile Club of Northern Cyprus will hold a rally and drift demonstrations; the section from Dr. Fazıl Küçük Boulevard through the Terminal roundabout, Kutlu Adalı Boulevard, İrfan Nadir Boulevard, and Ecevit Street up to the Pizza Vira intersection will be completely closed to traffic. Movement during these hours will be directed via alternative routes.
The police urge drivers to plan trips in advance, use detours, follow road signs and instructions of law enforcement officers, and reduce speed for the safety of participants and other road users.
