Teacher's Day celebrated in Lefkoşa: Çavuşoğlu on shared responsibility for youth
On November 24, 2025, official events for Teacher's Day were held in Northern Cyprus: after the ceremony at the Atatürk Monument in Lefkoşa, celebrations continued at the Atatürk Cultural Center. The Minister of National Education of the TRNC, Nazım Çavuşoğlu, gave a speech.
The event was organized by the Ministry of National Education. Speeches were delivered by Nazım Çavuşoğlu and retired teacher Nadjie Kazaz. Veteran educators received commemorative plaques. The Anatolian Lyceum of Bülent Ecevit Choir presented the oratorio "Thank You, Teacher".
Nazım Çavuşoğlu emphasized that teaching is not only the transmission of a curriculum but also a way of life based on Atatürk’s ideas, as well as a contribution to the development of the country. According to him, teachers among Turkish Cypriots have played an important role throughout history, and "Atatürk's reforms and his ideas will live forever." The Minister stressed the shared responsibility of the state and educators for raising generations: "Let us carefully nurture the youth entrusted to us, together."
Nadjie Kazaz highlighted the significance of November 24 as a date recognizing Atatürk's role for the entire Turkic world, and reminded that the teaching profession requires ideals, effort, and courage.
For residents of Northern Cyprus, this represents recognition of educators’ work and confirmation of the priority of upbringing and education at the level of state programs.
