In Lefkoşa, a dolmuş driver failed to yield at the terminal entrance and hit a motorcyclist
In Lefkoşa, on April 12, 2026, around 15:15, a dolmuş driver S.K. (M-29) collided with a motorcycle operated by Ahmad Ammar Ali while entering the bus terminal; the case was heard in court, and the driver was released on bail.
According to the police, the dolmuş driver, operating vehicle TKD 774, was traveling in the second lane from the left in a westward direction on Atatürk Street. Upon reaching the terminal, the driver made a right turn to enter, failing to give priority to oncoming traffic and violating the double continuous white line regulations. As a result of the maneuver, the path of motorcycle AA 998 B, operated by Ahmad Ammar Ali in the first left lane heading west, was blocked, leading to a collision.
The victim was taken to the Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Lefkoşa, where he remained under observation after receiving first aid.
Police stated they have completed the part of the investigation where the suspect could influence the evidence and requested a precautionary measure. The court ruled to ban the suspect from leaving the country, ordered a cash bail of 10,000 Turkish Liras, and required one guarantor to sign a bond of 700,000 Turkish Liras; the investigation continues.
