16 kilograms of unfit fish destroyed in Famagusta and Nicosia restaurants

The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the TRNC conducted a series of inspections of fish restaurants and warehouses in Famagusta and Nicosia. As a result of the inspections, about 16 kilograms of fish were declared unfit for consumption and destroyed.
The inspections were carried out by the fisheries unit of the Livestock Department. Specialists assessed the sanitary condition of the enterprises, the presence of activity permits, and the compliance of seafood with the requirements of the water resources law and minimum allowable catch sizes.
Following the raids, an official protocol on the destruction of the products was drawn up. The department emphasized that the fish did not meet sanitary requirements and could pose a threat to consumer health.
In addition, inspectors in Nicosia identified a fish storage facility operating without the necessary permit. Municipal authorities imposed an administrative fine on the enterprise and allowed time to eliminate the violations.
According to the ministry, the facility had previously undergone an inspection on April 21, after which the owners were given a deadline to correct the deficiencies. During the follow-up visit, department employees issued a final warning and demanded that the enterprise's activities be brought into compliance with established norms.
