In Serhatköy, a drunk man was detained over arson and intentional property damage
The police press service reported the detention of a man involved in arson and intentional property damage in the village of Serhatköy.
According to police information, the incident occurred on February 8, 2026, around 01:00. A 54-year-old man, I.M., while heavily intoxicated (175 milligrams of alcohol), set fire to the office section of a body repair workshop located near the house of E.M., with whom he had previously had conflicts. It is presumed that the perpetrator doused the premises with a flammable liquid and set it on fire.
After that, I.M. deliberately smashed the glass of the left door of a car parked next to the workshop and belonging to E.M., causing material damage.
The fire that broke out was extinguished by firefighting teams. As a result of the fire, various work tools, household appliances, electrical wiring, as well as metal and other materials inside and outside the building were damaged.
During the ongoing investigation, the suspect was detained. Investigative actions in the case are continuing.
