Lightning strikes Vadili–İnönü school during classes
A lightning strike occurred at the Vadili–İnönü primary school in Northern Cyprus right during the school day.
According to the teachers' union, the electrical and electronic systems of the building were damaged as a result of the incident. Despite the seriousness of the situation, no one was injured.
Union representatives emphasized that such incidents highlight the insufficient preparedness of schools for emergencies, including lightning strikes, fires, and other risks.
Following the event, a call was made to conduct a safety assessment of all educational institutions and to install protection systems, such as lightning rods.
The union noted that school safety must be ensured in advance through proper planning and prevention.
