Mass tour cancellations recorded in TRNC due to security situation
The North Cyprus Turkish Travel Agents Association (KITSAB) has reported a significant number of package tour cancellations amid the war and security concerns in the region.
The organization noted that they have been in contact with tour operators and travel agencies from the very beginning, closely monitoring the developments.
According to KITSAB, negotiations have already begun with relevant institutions and industry stakeholders to:
- ensure the safe return of tour groups to the island,
- resolve potential issues with bookings and flights,
- minimize the damage from tour cancellations.
The association is also in talks with authorities regarding support for travel agencies suffering financial losses due to the cancellations.
Furthermore, the creation of a crisis management mechanism is being discussed to allow the tourism sector to respond more effectively to such international crises in the future.
