In Turkey, a scheme involving fake driver's licenses from the TRNC and Georgia has been uncovered
An operation against a criminal organization engaged in the falsification of driver's licenses was conducted in Turkey. Fake documents were imported from the TRNC and Georgia.
According to reports from local media, the operation against the fraudsters' gang was carried out by the Police Department of the province of Giresun. In total, six people were detained in connection with this case. One of the detainees was arrested after interrogation, while the remaining five were released on bail pending trial.
The investigation began after numerous drivers were found to possess licenses obtained in Georgia, police statements revealed.
During the investigation, it was discovered that individuals who had not passed the driver's license exams, as well as citizens whose licenses had been revoked for various reasons, attempted to legalize the use of fake driver's licenses obtained in Georgia and the TRNC in Turkey by notarizing their translations.
"As a result of the simultaneous operation, six suspects have been detained, found guilty of committing the crime classified as fraud. One person has been arrested, while the other five have been released under judicial supervision," the police statement said.
