In the last 10 years, the number of mobile operator subscribers in the TRNC has increased by almost 300%
Since 2013, the use of smartphones in the TRNC has grown by 290%. According to the report of the Department of Information Technologies and Communications (BTHK), the total number of active mobile subscribers in the country is 996,401, with 811,183 being active.
According to the BTHK report "Electronic Communications Sector for the 3rd Quarter of 2023," the total volume of mobile traffic in the third quarter of 2023 amounted to 361 million minutes. Compared to the previous three-month period, traffic decreased by 3.8%.
In the third quarter of 2023, the number of 3G subscribers decreased by 43% to 253,631, while the number of 4.5G subscribers increased to 214,141.
The overall number of subscribers for home and mobile internet increased by 5.5%, reaching 467,772 people.
According to the report, from 2015 to 2022, there was an increase in revenue from mobile communication. In 2022, mobile communication revenues increased by 46% compared to the previous year, reaching 611 million Turkish liras.
In the third quarter of 2023, the net revenue from the sales of mobile operators increased by 20.4% compared to the previous quarter, reaching 273.9 million Turkish liras.
The countries with the highest traffic were Turkey, England, Nigeria, South Cyprus, Iran, and Turkmenistan. The countries receiving the most calls were Turkey, England, and Nigeria.
It is also noted that the number of monthly SMS messages has decreased by 64% since 2013, falling to 13.3 million.
