In Lefkoşa today, July 8, 2025, law enforcement officers of Northern Cyprus conducted an operational detention of a suspect who attempted an illegal sale of an apartment using a forged document. According to preliminary information, the man, identified as a citizen who is not the legal owner of the property, prepared a fake power of attorney to conclude the deal with the buyer.

The investigation began after receiving information that the offender intended to use the falsified document to process the sale of an apartment located in the Ortaköy district. The forged power of attorney was supposed to grant him the authority to act on behalf of the real property owner, which would have allowed him to fraudulently settle the deal and pay off personal debts.

The police promptly took measures to identify the suspect and clarify all circumstances related to his actions. According to available data, during the investigation, the involvement of other persons related to the production and forgery of documents is also being examined, which may lead to stricter measures by law enforcement agencies.

Currently, a detailed analysis of all facts is being conducted, and additional information is being gathered that may clarify the full picture of the criminal activity of this individual. Northern Cyprus law enforcement authorities emphasized that such cases of forgery and fraudulent schemes are unacceptable and assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to protect property owners' rights.

The investigation continues, and based on the results of the operational actions, charges will be brought against the detainee according to the current legislation. Police representatives also noted that such incidents require increased attention to verifying title documents when processing real estate transactions.

Recall that this case caused a wide public resonance, and specialists emphasize the importance of vigilance and document verification to avoid fraudulent schemes in the future.
