Exceedance of pesticide limits detected in domestic products
According to laboratory checks of imported and local agricultural products, no exceedances of permissible limits were found in imported goods.
All 31 samples of imported products were found to be clean — no plant protection substances above the allowed limits were detected.
Meanwhile, during the inspection of domestic products from 39 samples collected:
- 33 samples complied with the standards,
- 6 samples showed exceedances of permissible levels of plant protection substances.
As a result, the harvesting of local products where violations were detected has been temporarily suspended until additional laboratory analyses are completed. Restrictions affected:
- strawberries from the village of Yeşilyarmak,
- Mandora variety mandarins from the Güzelyurt district and the village of Doğancı.
It is noted separately that cucumbers from Gazimağusa, which also showed pesticide limit exceedances, were destroyed at the request of the producer.
Quality control of products and further inspections continue.
