"Iron Fist" from the TRNC Wins Prestigious Boxing Title in Thailand
Turkish Cypriot boxer Metin Turunç, known by his nickname "Iron Fist," has made history for the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) by winning a prestigious boxing title in Thailand. In the title fight held this past weekend, Turunç defeated the seasoned Thai boxer Ukrit Noiubon, securing the championship belt.
"This title means a great deal not only to me but also to my country. It stirred the crowd emotionally, and we proudly waved the TRNC flag," Turunç said after the fight.
With this victory, Iron Fist now holds a record of 12 wins and 1 loss. In his last four bouts, he has knocked out his opponents in the opening rounds.
"I dedicate this win to all of our people. I am proud to announce the name of our country to the world," the boxer added.
