There are 9 checkpoints (CPs) between Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Cyprus. In Nicosia, the only checkpoint for crossing by car is Metehan (Metehan — Ayios Dometios); the other two city crossings are pedestrian only. Most checkpoints operate 24/7, but Pila — Pergamos and Strovilia — Famagusta are usually open from 10:00 to 19:00, and Yesilyirmak — Pyrgos and Lefke operate only during daytime.

In total, there are 9 checkpoints through which you can enter the Republic of Cyprus from Northern Cyprus. The opening of an additional checkpoint near Nicosia is periodically discussed, but no decision has been made yet.
