44-year-old arrested on suspicion of two arsons in the Dekelia area (Larnaca)
The court ordered an eight-day detention for a 44-year-old suspected of committing two arsons in the Dekelia area in Larnaca early Saturday morning. According to the police, around 4:30 a.m., a fire was reported in a building in the area; within a few minutes, four parked cars near a car service caught fire.
Fire services quickly extinguished both fires, but the building and four vehicles were completely destroyed; another car suffered minor damage. Following the investigation, the police classified the incidents as intentional arsons. During further procedures, witness information was obtained, and the suspect was detained by court order and placed in custody to assist with the investigation.
The investigation continues; the police are conducting examinations and interviewing witnesses. Larnaca residents are advised, if possible, not to leave vehicles unattended at car services, to check surveillance camera recordings, and to report any suspicious activity to the police. According to the authorities, anyone with information about the incidents can contact the nearest police station.
