Over €10 million in investments: which projects were completed in the municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia in 2025
In 2025, projects totaling over €10 million were completed in the municipality of Paralimni – Deryneia and its administrative districts. Funding was provided by the state, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, and ETAP Famagusta, Mayor Georgios Nikolettos reported.
According to him, 2025 was particularly productive, as both large and small projects were implemented across all municipal districts, focusing on balanced development, social cohesion, and improving residents’ quality of life.
Paralimni
Key projects included:
- Reconstruction of Kappari Avenue — €6.43 million (+VAT), 80% state funding, 20% municipal
- Paralimni Children’s Centre — €2 million (+VAT), an important social facility supporting families
- Tassos Isaak and Solomos Solomou Memorial — a historical memory project
- Pedestrian bridge on Irakli Hadjirakli Street
- New information boards on the promenade
- Renovation of Saint George and Saint Barbara parks
Deryneia
Two major infrastructure projects were completed in the district:
- Deryneia Municipal Market — €1.5 million (+VAT), 85% funded by European funds and the Republic of Cyprus
- Deryneia – Sotira Road — €13.5 million (+VAT), 80% state funding
Additionally, the following were updated:
- Water park at the amphitheatre (fully funded by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism)
- Deryneia Citizen Service Centre — €465,000, fully funded by Social Welfare Services
Frenaros
Projects focused on preserving local identity:
- Park at the Panagia Asproviotissa Chapel — €60,000, 100% funded by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism
- Renovation of four parks
- Installation of traditional fountains with support from ETAP Famagusta
Acheritou
- New events hall — fully funded by the Famagusta district administration
- Reconstruction of Saint George Chapel — 100% funded by ETAP Famagusta
The mayor noted that the municipality is satisfied with the pace of work, especially considering that it is a newly formed structure resulting from the merger of four local authorities under the local government reform.
As for the Kokkinochoria sewer system, it has been transferred to the Regional Local Authority of Famagusta, with which the municipality continues to maintain close cooperation.
