British Insurers Name Cyprus's Nissi Beach as the Best in Europe
Nissi Beach in Ayia Napa has been named the best beach in Europe for swimming. This accolade comes from experts at the British insurance comparison website QuoteZone.
To evaluate the beaches, the ranking considered five factors: average sea temperature in June, the number of five-star reviews on TripAdvisor, the average temperature in the hottest month of the year, average daily cost, and wave height.
In June, Nissi Beach had an average sea temperature of 24.4°C, the highest among the nine beaches ranked. The average temperature in the hottest month of the year was 30.5°C, also the highest.
QuoteZone reports that the beach is “known for its sparkling turquoise waters, golden sand, warm sea, and pleasant air temperature.”
“This ideal beach resort has been awarded the Blue Flag for cleanliness and offers an affordable daily cost of 103 euros. This cost includes everything needed for a day trip, including food, transportation, and even overnight accommodation,” the company added.
Second place in the ranking goes to Mellieħa Bay in Malta, followed by Portorož Beach in Slovenia.
The top five also includes Elafonissi Beach on the Greek island of Crete and Zlatni Rat Beach on the Croatian island of Brač. La Pelosa Beach on the Italian island of Sardinia rounds out the top six.
Praia de Falésia in Portugal, which took seventh place, was recognized as the best beach outside the Mediterranean. The rankings are completed by Maspalomas Beach on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria, Bournemouth in the UK, and Palombaggia on the French island of Corsica.
