Two Dog Packs Blamed for Killing Dozens of Cats in Germasogeia
In the Germasogeia area of Limassol, animal welfare volunteers have uncovered two packs of stray dogs believed to be responsible for the deaths of dozens of cats over the past seven months. One of the packs has already been captured and secured, while efforts to locate the second group continue.
Volunteers are urging residents to stay alert, especially in neighborhoods where the dogs have been spotted.
In a public statement, animal welfare activists thanked both the volunteers and the officers at Germasogeia Police Station for their dedication in helping track down the animals. Thanks to their efforts, one pack has been safely captured and transferred to a private facility.
Authorities have confirmed that, following consultations with relevant services, there are no plans to euthanize the aggressive dogs. Instead, the focus remains on securing and safely housing the animals. The search for the second pack is still ongoing and will continue in the coming days.
