Inflation in Cyprus reached 2.8% in April 2026, according to the Statistical Service. The main factor for the price increase was a significant rise in fuel prices, which continues to have a decisive impact on consumer price dynamics.

The Consumer Price Index increased from 101.07 points in March to 102.80 points in April 2026. In annual terms, the largest growth was recorded in the petroleum products category — by 18.3%, as well as in agricultural products — by 9.6%. At the same time, prices for electricity and water decreased by 7.9% compared to April last year.

Compared to March 2026, petroleum products became particularly more expensive — by 12.6%, confirming their key role in monthly inflation. Price increases were also observed in transport, housing, and food, while the largest decrease was noted in the vegetable category.

In annual terms, the most significant price increases were recorded in transport, food, recreation, and education. Meanwhile, clothing and footwear, as well as mobile communication services, showed the largest decrease. The impact on the general index was distributed unevenly: the recreation and tourism sectors provided growth, while healthcare and communications had a restraining effect.
