Martial arts instructor sentenced to 3 years in prison for child sexual abuse
The Nicosia Assize Court sentenced a martial arts instructor to three years in prison after finding him guilty on eight counts related to child sexual abuse.
According to the Cyprus Law Office, the crimes took place between 2019 and 2021. The convicted man, exploiting the child's trust as their coach, committed indecent acts and harassment.
The court also ruled that upon his release, the man will be under supervision for two years, during which time he will be prohibited from working in places where children are present or frequent.
The Attorney General of Cyprus intends to review the court's decision and consider filing an appeal due to the leniency of the sentence.
