Massive Data Breach Hits Cyprus Airways: Hackers Claim to Have Stolen Passenger Information
Hackers have allegedly broken into Cyprus Airways' customer database, claiming to have stolen a large trove of sensitive personal data.
According to a post on a data leak forum, the attackers say they’ve gained access to:
-
Email addresses
-
First and last names
-
Travel dates
-
Amounts paid
-
Document details
-
Phone numbers
-
And other personal information
The cybercriminals claim they are in possession of 41 gigabytes of data and, more worryingly, say they still have live access to the airline's internal systems, including the ability to monitor real-time arrivals and departures.
It is still unclear whether bank card or payment information was compromised in the breach.
If the leak is confirmed, it could have serious consequences for Cyprus Airways customers. The stolen data could be used for targeted phishing scams, financial fraud, and identity theft.
Experts also warn that the attackers could use travel date information to identify empty homes, making customers potential targets for burglary. Fake identities could be created using the stolen personal documents.
As of now, Cyprus Airways has not commented publicly on the incident.
