Cyprus Braces for Extreme Cold as Yellow Weather Warning Issued
The Meteorological Department of the Republic of Cyprus has issued a yellow weather warning as the island prepares for an unusual cold snap with freezing temperatures. In the mountains, temperatures are expected to drop as low as -10°C.
According to meteorologists, sub-zero temperatures will be recorded in the mountains over the weekend. Authorities have urged local communities to provide extra support to residents during this period of severe weather.
Since Thursday, Cyprus has been experiencing the effects of Cold Cyclone "Coral," which has brought a sharp drop in temperatures. Tonight, freezing conditions are expected in mountainous regions, with temperatures plunging to -7°C by evening.
On Friday, temperatures in some inland areas ranged between 0°C and 3°C, with Saturday, Sunday, and Monday forecasted to be the coldest days. In the mountains, temperatures are set to hover around -10°C, with light snowfall also expected.
The yellow weather warning will be in effect from 10:00 PM tomorrow until 8:00 AM on Sunday, February 23.
