New town hall to be built in Larnaca on site of old hospital
Larnaca plans to build a new town hall on the site of the old city hospital.
According to the deputy mayor, the project will be part of the city's preparation for the status of European Capital of Culture 2030.
Funding is planned to be secured through the sale of a plot in the city center. Once the deal is completed, the authorities will begin the reconstruction of the historic hospital building.
The project cost is estimated at approximately €8.7 million, with completion expected by early 2028.
After the opening of the new town hall, all municipal services currently located in the building on Athens Avenue will be moved there.
The authorities emphasize that the project will not only create a modern administrative space but also preserve and utilize a historic building that holds cultural value for the city.
