Cyprus became the country with the most notable decrease in electricity prices in the second half of 2025. According to Eurostat data, the cost of electricity for households on the island fell by 14.7% compared to the same period in 2024.

Across the European Union as a whole, the situation remained mixed: prices rose in 17 countries, while they decreased in 10. The most significant increase was recorded in Romania, where growth reached 58.6%. Meanwhile, average prices across the EU remained practically stable, increasing slightly from 28.79 to 28.96 euros per 100 kWh.

Despite the decrease, price levels in Cyprus remain relatively high at 30.37 euros per 100 kWh. For comparison, the most expensive rates were recorded in Ireland (40.42 euros), Germany (38.69 euros), and Belgium (34.99 euros), while the lowest were in Hungary, Malta, and Bulgaria.

Experts note that despite the positive dynamics, electricity prices in Europe still significantly exceed the pre-crisis levels of 2022, continuing to impact households and the economy.
