Cyprus Sends Aid to Battle One of the Largest Wildfires in Israel’s History
The Republic of Cyprus has swiftly responded to a request for assistance from Israel, dispatching both aerial and ground support to help combat what is being described as one of the most devastating wildfires in the country’s history.
According to local media, Cyprus has made its resources available and remains in direct contact with Israeli authorities, awaiting further updates on specific needs.
The massive wildfire broke out on the evening of April 30 in the Eshtaol Forest, located between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Several communities and villages have been evacuated, and roads in the area have been closed. Although the cause of the fire is still unknown, high temperatures and strong winds have contributed to its rapid spread.
In response to the crisis, Israel has reached out to six countries for international assistance, including Cyprus, Greece, Croatia, Italy, and Bulgaria.
