Cypriot scientist Kyriacos Athanasiou elected to prestigious American Academy
Cypriot scientist K. Athanasiou has been elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences — one of the oldest and most authoritative scientific organizations in the world. This was announced by the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts, congratulating the scientist on this high international recognition.
Founded in 1780, the Academy brings together leading scientists, researchers, and cultural figures, honoring outstanding achievements in science and the humanities. Membership is considered one of the most prestigious scientific honors.
Professor Athanasiou is known for his research in tissue engineering and the development of innovative biomaterials. His work has significantly contributed to the development of biomedical engineering and has found application in advanced medical technologies.
In 2023, the scientist was already awarded the Cyprus Republic Prize for his contribution to science and commitment to research excellence, confirming his sustained international recognition.
