The “Olive Roads” route will arrive in Paphos in 2026
The European cultural and tourism project “Olive Roads” will be implemented in the Paphos province in 2026, local tourism organizations report. The initiative links Paphos with already existing routes in a number of European countries.
As part of the preparation, representatives of the responsible European project visited sites across the Paphos province during an assessment. According to the source, the visiting specialists were fully satisfied with the locations and the region’s tourism potential.
The proposed route will cover all municipalities of the Paphos province, 30 communities, and will extend for more than 170 kilometers; participants will be able to complete the route partially depending on their interests. The program includes sites related to olive heritage, as well as monasteries and churches, archaeological monuments, museums, viewpoints, and creative workshops.
The project is primarily aimed at individual visitors, who will be able to travel by their own transport, a rented bus, or taxi, as the existing public transport network does not yet provide access to rural areas for this type of tourism.
Paphos organizers expect that the cultural trail will enhance the province’s international cultural status and highlight its strengths in tourism, culture, and traditions. The route, recognized as a Cultural Route of the Council of Europe and a World Cultural Route of intercultural dialogue and sustainable development by UNESCO, will be added to digital maps and other information resources in 2026 following the final plan.
