In Cyprus, electricity will become cheaper
The price for 1 kWh of electricity has decreased from 35 to 30 cents.
The government has decided to compensate the difference by five cents for 429,000 households and 106,000 enterprises. The subsidy covers a portion of the increase in the price of electricity, and its amount depends on the level of consumption.
The subsidy is calculated as follows:
- For monthly consumption from 1 to 400 kWh, the subsidy is 85%.
- For monthly consumption from 401 to 600 kWh, the subsidy is 75%.
- For monthly consumption from 601 to 800 kWh, the subsidy is 50%.
- For monthly consumption exceeding 800 kWh, the subsidy is 0%.
Subsidies will only be applied to electricity bills issued from November 2023 to February 2024.
