Evictions in Germasogeia as authorities crack down on dangerous buildings after tragedy
Following the collapse of a residential building in Germasogeia, authorities have launched active structural inspections of buildings.
It is reported that tenants and apartment owners in four apartment blocks in the area will receive eviction notices, as the buildings have been deemed dangerous and unfit for habitation.
According to local authorities, many such houses are in extremely poor condition: cracks, structural damage, and serious operational issues are being recorded.
At the same time, inspections are taking place in other regions. In particular, more than 200 dangerous sites requiring intervention have been identified in the Paphos district.
Authorities note that previously, action had been delayed due to legal complexities, the distribution of responsibility, and the high cost of repairs.
Now, following the tragedy, the situation has been brought under control, and local government bodies have begun taking strict measures to ensure safety.
