In April 2026, the car market in Cyprus showed steady growth. According to data from the Statistical Service, saloon registrations increased by 24.2% compared to the same month last year, reaching 3,632 cars against 2,924 in April 2025.

The total number of registered motor vehicles also grew — by 22.1%, amounting to 4,733 units. Experts attribute the growth to increased consumer interest in fleet renewal and higher demand for more economical models.

During the first four months of 2026, the number of registered saloons reached 14,259 units, which is 14% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, used cars continue to dominate the market: their share was 66.3%, while new cars accounted for 33.7% of registrations.

One of the main trends was the change in demand structure by fuel type. The share of petrol cars decreased to 35.6%, and diesel to 8.5%. Meanwhile, hybrid cars strengthened their position, occupying 50.8% of the saloon market, and the share of electric vehicles rose to 5.2%.

However, the rental car segment showed a decrease of 14.8%, dropping from 1,551 to 1,321 units. Despite this, the total volume of vehicle registrations for January–April 2026 increased by 15.1%, reaching 18,570 cars.
