Van with large shipment of smuggled tobacco seized in Cyprus
Cyprus police, following a chase, stopped a van with Turkish Cypriot license plates carrying a large shipment of illegal tobacco products.
A 37-year-old Bulgarian citizen was at the wheel, accompanied by a 39-year-old Turkish Cypriot woman.
During the inspection, a large quantity of cigarettes, tobacco, and other tobacco products without the mandatory labeling were found in the vehicle. Preliminary estimates suggest the unpaid duties on these products exceed 100,000 euros.
All tobacco products were seized, and the investigation continues with the participation of the Customs Department.
