Remote-controlled rescue buoy appears on Paphos beach
The presentation and handover of new high-tech rescue equipment — a remote-controlled rescue buoy — took place at Ta Bania Municipal Beach in Paphos.
The device was donated to the Paphos Municipality by the Paphos Regional Tourism Board (ETAP) to strengthen beach safety and increase the efficiency of rescue operations.
According to ETAP director Nasos Hadjigeorgiou, the electric device is eco-friendly, rechargeable, and can move up to five times faster than a professional swimmer. Its range reaches about 800 meters, and its battery life is up to 50 minutes.
The equipment costs about 4,500 euros. The device will be permanently stationed at Ta Bania beach, which operates year-round.
Municipality representatives noted that the introduction of such technologies enhances the safety of vacationers and improves the quality of rescue services on the city's beaches.
