Cypriot President arrived in Abu Dhabi escorted by F-16 fighter jets

President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides arrived on an official visit to Abu Dhabi after participating in a trilateral meeting in Amman. The head of state's aircraft was escorted by two F-16 fighter jets immediately upon entering the airspace of the United Arab Emirates. Enhanced security measures were taken against the backdrop of the tense situation in the region and recent Iranian attacks on the territory of the emirates.
Ministers and an official Cypriot delegation are participating in the trip along with the president. According to sources, the escort of the presidential aircraft by military aviation became part of the increased protection measures for the high-ranking guest in the context of the unstable situation in the Middle East.
Christodoulides' visit is seen as an important diplomatic signal against the backdrop of ongoing geopolitical changes in the Persian Gulf region. Special attention is paid to strengthening relations between Cyprus and the UAE, as well as issues of regional security and cooperation.
