The police have confirmed that the mummified body found in Ayia Napa belongs to Aleksandar Gligorijević, a 28-year-old Serbian national who had been reported missing.

The body, in an advanced stage of mummification, was discovered in a wooded area near Ayia Napa on September 5. Initial investigations confirmed that it was the body of a man, and subsequent laboratory tests identified it as that of the missing Serbian citizen.

Gligorijević had been reported missing in early August. He arrived in Cyprus on July 18, but all communication with him ceased on July 27.

The case is currently under investigation by the Famagusta Crime Investigation Department (TAE). Upon completion of the investigation, the findings will be forwarded to the Attorney General for further instructions.
