The Cyprus Public Service Commission has announced the appointment of four new Ambassadors to the Department of Foreign Affairs. The decision will take effect on May 15, 2026.

According to the official announcement, Thessalia Salina Shambos, Philippa Karsera, Maria Michael, and Charis Moritsis have been promoted. All will hold permanent diplomatic positions within the A15 salary scale.

The appointment of Philippa Karsera, the wife of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, has drawn particular attention. Her promotion was part of a general personnel rotation within the diplomatic service.

The annual salary for the new ambassadors will range from €64,713 to €80,433 depending on the step, including potential allowances and cost-of-living adjustments approved by the government.

Authorities emphasize that the appointments were made under the established procedure for filling vacant posts and are aimed at strengthening the country's foreign policy apparatus.
