New rules for pool operation introduced in Cyprus

The Cypriot Parliament approved a new legislative framework to regulate public swimming pools, simplifying licensing, operation, and supervision.
Pools are now divided into three categories:
- public,
- at hotels and other businesses,
- private (up to 5 residential units).
The rules set requirements for water quality, analysis, equipment maintenance, as well as disinfection and circulation. Standards are defined for operators and security services, as well as rules of conduct for visitors.
Private pools no longer require a license or constant supervision — only selective inspections. Responsibility for licensing is assigned to municipalities and prefects.
