New fire breaks out in Nicosia buffer zone

On Saturday afternoon, a new fire reportedly broke out in the Nicosia buffer zone, near the Kaimakli and Aglandjia areas. Thick black smoke rose over the city, visible from various parts of the capital.
At the time of publication, no official statement has been received from the fire service, but eyewitnesses report emergency services working in the area. The causes of the fire remain unknown for now.
This is the second fire in the neutral zone in recent hours. The previous day, fire units also responded to a fire in a neighboring part of the buffer zone.
Residents of the capital are expressing concern over the recurring fires, especially given the warm and dry weather. Authorities are expected to provide additional information after assessing the situation on the ground.
