UAE and Cyprus Sign Memorandum of Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Cyprus have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). From February 12 to 13, Nikodimos Damianos, Deputy Minister for Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy of Cyprus, participated in the 2025 World Government Summit (WGS) held in Dubai.
During the visit, the Deputy Minister engaged in a series of meetings with government officials and leaders of technology companies.
The MoU was signed by Nikodimos Damianos and his counterpart, Omar Sultan Al Olama, UAE Minister for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations in the digital transformation sector and exploring ways to deepen cooperation in key areas, according to a statement from the Ministry.
The signed agreement, according to the statement, "establishes a solid foundation for even stronger, more impactful, and effective ties between the two countries, which will foster innovation, drive development, and provide solutions to shared socio-economic challenges."
The MoU further highlights the creation of "significant opportunities for sharing best practices, promoting joint research activities, and advancing scientific and innovation projects. It also aims to accelerate AI adoption across both public and private sectors while building capabilities to create a stronger AI ecosystem in both countries."
