Another Arson: Cause of Fire Between Two Cypriot Villages Identified
On Thursday evening, a major fire broke out in the area between the villages of Prodromi and Drouseia in Cyprus. Preliminary reports suggest that the fire was caused by arson.
According to the police, the fire started after 8:00 p.m. Firefighting teams from the Forestry Department and the Polis Chrysochous and Strovolos fire stations responded to the scene.
The battle against the blaze lasted for over two hours. The fire was finally brought under control around 10:15 p.m., after consuming 1.5 hectares of dry grass. Given the time of the incident, the police suspect that "malicious actions" were responsible for the fire.
Firefighters remained on site throughout the night to prevent the fire from rekindling.
