Published salaries of the President of the Republic of Cyprus and government officials
The Main Accountancy Office of the Republic of Cyprus has started publishing a detailed list of salaries for officials and civil servants.
According to the published data, the annual salary of the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, is 114,039 euros, while the President of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, earns 92,731 euros.
The salaries of government representatives, deputy ministers, and deputy ministers to the President amount to 75,674 euros per year.
It is noted that the mentioned net salary is based only on legally mandated deductions. Additional deductions/exemptions/allowances or other incomes that may apply in each specific case are not taken into account when calculating income tax.
"The transparency of the state's financial operations enables citizens to hold government bodies more accountable. The principle of transparency has been integrated into our financial management and control legislative framework since 2014," the statement said.
Data on the salaries of government officials and civil servants are presented and updated every six months.
Recall that earlier, the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, was named one of the richest leaders of European states in terms of the average wage level.
According to a study conducted by the publication Slot.Day, Nikos Christodoulides receives an annual salary of 174,637 euros, which is 6.51 times higher than the average salary in the country.
