Cyprus police strengthen child protection: 60 convictions for sexual crimes in 2025
The Cyprus Police have declared the protection of minors a priority and emphasized that investigations into cases of child abuse are conducted as swiftly as possible, keeping the interests of the victims at the forefront. The department noted that a comprehensive and "child-friendly" approach is applied, ensuring support at all stages of the investigation.
According to data from the Police Public Relations Department, 60 convictions were handed down in 2025 for cases of child sexual abuse. The police emphasized that each case is the result of meticulous work by the specialized unit for the protection of vulnerable groups. The department also added that cooperation with organizations such as the Hope For Children CRC Policy Center and the "Children's House" helps provide victims with the necessary support.
Law enforcement authorities note that the fight against such crimes remains one of their key tasks. Particular attention is paid to the professionalism of investigators and ensuring every case reaches court. The police stressed that the protection of children is a shared responsibility of the state and society.
