Heavy Rain Reduces Visibility on the Limassol Highway
On the highway in the Mouttagiaka area of Limassol and on the surrounding road network, dangerously reduced visibility was reported at around 15:15 on Thursday due to heavy rainfall, according to the local Police.
The Police strongly urged drivers to exercise increased caution, drive at a safe low speed, maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead, and keep their headlights on.
Reduced visibility was observed not only in the Mouttagiaka section but also across a wider road area of Limassol, increasing the risk of traffic incidents under worsening weather conditions.
For Limassol residents and those traveling in this direction, the Police recommend avoiding unnecessary journeys until the weather stabilizes, allowing extra travel time when needed, and avoiding sudden maneuvers. If visibility worsens, drivers should stop in safe locations and switch on their hazard lights.
The website also refers to the weather forecast: thunderstorms and snow in the mountains are expected on the same day, which may further affect road safety.
