An earthquake of over 5 magnitude recorded near Paphos; aftershocks up to 4.7
An earthquake of more than 5 magnitude was recorded in the Paphos area of Cyprus on Wednesday and was felt across the island, Greek media reported on November 12, 2025. During a live broadcast, correspondent Kostas Nanos stated that the main tremor was very strong and lasted for a long time; a strong aftershock soon followed, affecting the city and district of Paphos.
According to European and international organizations and citizens' reports, three aftershocks followed the main tremor, the strongest of which was estimated at approximately 4.7 magnitude. The Geological Survey Department issued an official statement on the strong earthquake.
Local reports noted a landslide on a road in the Paphos area and communication disruptions after the tremors. Civil Defense said that no information about casualties or significant damage has been received at this time. The tremors were also felt in the communities of Droushia and Polis Chrysochous, as well as in Northern Cyprus.
