Prayer service held in Aradippou due to foot-and-mouth disease threat

Amid concerns over the spread of foot-and-mouth disease and its impact on livestock farmers, an extraordinary prayer meeting was held on Wednesday (25/2) at the Metropolitan Church of Saint Spyridon in Aradippou.
The initiative was taken by the Metropolis of GOC Kition. The service was held in an atmosphere of spiritual support and concern for local farmers whose holdings are under threat due to the epidemic.
Metropolitan Gerasimos of Kition, assisted by the clergy, led the blessing and special prayers for the protection of animals. Following the service, holy water was distributed to the faithful and livestock breeders present.
Later, the Metropolitan visited one of the region's farms, where he blessed the premises and spoke with the producers, learning about the situation on the ground.
He also called on state authorities to provide practical support to farmers to contain the spread of the disease and protect the agricultural sector, which is a vital part of the local economy.
