Man arrested in Dromolaxia after police chase
In the Dromolaxia area, police arrested a 25-year-old man who attempted to flee from law enforcement officers.
The incident occurred shortly after midnight when police noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in a rural area. As officers approached to conduct a check, the driver suddenly accelerated and attempted to escape, leading to a chase.
During the pursuit, the vehicle collided with a police car. According to police, law enforcement officers were forced to fire warning shots to stop the vehicle.
After the car was stopped, the driver, a 25-year-old Larnaca resident, resisted arrest and allegedly attacked the officers. He was detained at the scene.
During a search of the car, police found 93 grams of cannabis, a small amount of cocaine, four bullets, and a knife.
Two police officers sustained minor injuries and were taken to the Larnaca General Hospital, where they received first aid.
The suspect is due to appear before the Larnaca District Court, where police will seek his further remand in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
