Snow Returns to the Troodos Mountains
On March 19, heavy snowfall once again blanketed the Troodos Mountains, following a brief warm spell earlier this month. A sharp drop in temperatures, caused by a cold weather front, has led to a yellow weather warning for storms, heavy rain, hail, and strong winds across Cyprus.
According to the Meteorology Department, the western regions have been hit the hardest, but other parts of the island are also feeling the effects.
Avalanche Warning Issued
Meteorologists warn that avalanches could occur in the mountains overnight.
Although conditions remain severe, the weather is expected to gradually improve starting tomorrow, though temperatures will stay well below seasonal norms.
Weather Outlook
- Tonight: Cloudy with scattered showers, light snowfall in the mountains, and strong winds.
- Tomorrow: Partly cloudy with occasional showers and light snowfall in higher elevations.
- Friday & Weekend: Mostly clear, but some areas may see cloudy intervals.
